COVID-19 NIAAA Membership Update

As the situation surrounding COVID-19 develops, the NIAAA is dedicated to protecting its staff, Board, and members from any potential harm. As a result, Board of Directors, Officer and Staff travel has been suspended through April. This primarily effects Section Meetings and attending state athletic administrator conferences.

During the month of April the situation will be evaluated to determine the status of future such meetings. The upcoming Section 1 Meeting in March and Section 8 Meeting in April will continue with the use of the digital platform Zoom. At this time, the Section 1 Meeting is deciding on an alternate date from the original, and Section 8 will meet on the same day and time as originally scheduled. Should travel be suspended into May, and or June, the online format would continue for Section Meetings.

Beginning March15, our office staff will have the option to work remotely from their homes. All email and phone systems will still be in working order and we do not expect a delay in service provided to our members.

In order for us to continue providing consistent support to our members, we are asking that all payments for purchases and memberships be submitted via credit card, if possible. If a check is submitted instead of a credit card, please be patient as some employees may not be in the office to collect and process that payment. Mike Blackburn and Phil Rison will continue to conduct regular office hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST), unless the office park determines that the office building will be closed.

Certification Applications & Exams

  • If you are applying for certification, please do not mail a hard copy of your personal data form. Instead, please email the personal data form and other required documents to cvanparis@niaaa.org.

  • If your state conference is cancelled or postponed and you are not able to take the CAA exam, we have an option for you to take it independently with a digital proctor. Arrangements for that exam can be made by contacting cvanparis@niaaa.org.

Courses

  • If your state conference is cancelled or postponed and you are not able to take a course, registration for our spring webinars is open through April 4 and select online courses are available year round. Please visit https://members.niaaa.org/page/LeadershipTraining to purchase those courses.
